Smooth-finished leathers have polished surface that enhances the true beauty and quality of the leather. Only the most premium, top-quality hides are used to craft smooth-finished leathers. For Roughout Leathers:
Roughout is a reverse suede leather made in our tannery, S.B. Foot Tanning. Most tanneries employ a process of splitting and thinning hides to create the rough surface. S.B. Foot Tanning instead flips the hide to maintain the heavy grain leather with propriety tanning processes that gives a unique, rough texture. Mohave is a premium, waterproof, reverse suede leather used by the United States Military. Muleskinner leather is burnished, featuring visual texture and great appeal.
Always clean excess dirt from your footwear to prevent wear and drying. Using Red Wing Shoes Eraser Kit, lightly rub the edge of the eraser over the soiled area. For deep stains and marks, apply more pressure. If the stain or dirt remains, wet both the eraser and the stain with clean water and repeat the rubbing action. Let dry, then apply eraser to remove water spots.
